Hi colleague.
I am very glad to welcome you to our Polish-Italian social network, which will soon change into "The Polish-Italian-Russian"network,after your students get registered by you!
Why don't you tell them to join the discussion which our colleague Adam has just started. The theme of the discussion is: "What are your ambitions for the future?"
Kind regards,
Antonella Novello

Dear Nadezhda,
how are you ?
1. I have asked your students to put some photos of your towns in their pages....it would be nice to see a map of the Russian federation as well, to understand where you are located exactly.
2. Adam and I have started a new discussion about a) our students' expectations about this project 2) their ideas about our respective countries. I hope all your students will join it!
Take care,
Antonella

Dear Nadezhza
my Religious Education colleague is very interested in knowing how this subject is currently taught in your country, if it is taught at all.
In Italy it became an optional subject a few years ago..When I was a student, it was compulsory.
She would like to know:
- if it is optional or compulsory in Russia
- how many hours a week of RE your students have
- do they read the Bible or the Gospel? Do teachers go through the history of different religions all over the world? Or do they just deal with the history of Cristianity and the Orthodox religion?
- Is the subject taught by priests or lay people?

Many thanks on behalf of my colleague Anna.

Yes, Nadia, and both Adam and I have answered, saying we both think the idea is great but I would not know where to start from...?
Adam commented somehow similarly..if I remember well...
Antonella

P.S. Thanks for your quick answer about the teaching of RE in Russia. I understand this subject is not taught in state schools in Russia, but only in private religious ones.. Am I right ?

Dear Nadia,
the "technician" Antonella has told me to ask you for a complete list of the students who are registered in our social network, in alphabetical order...
Guess what? Adam and I have arranged our students and us to spend one hour next week phoning each other via skype..Hopefully, we will be able to arrange this with your students as well, some time after Christmas..
Bye for now,
Antonella

Of course we can chat while you are online.
If yuo give me your skype address, I will call you (probably at Christmas) to discuss how to go on with the project..
For the time being my students will soon be publishing some power point presentations, which contain the answers to some questions the Polish guys asked them..and viceversa..
With a separate mail, I am sending the same list of questions for your students to try and answer them..

Can you remind me when your Christmas holidays are.. I mean, from when to when is school closed? In Italy it closes from 24th December to 6th January. I am going to call you during the holidays, if your computer has not been fixed yet, I will call you on your home number.
Iam glad you liked the questions and we are looking forward to reading the answers... our presentations are almost ready.. I can't change them now, but they do include some Italian words..

This is the effect of globalization... the world as a global village where different cultures are hardly recognizable.. where you find the same products, you hear the same music wherever you go...Let's hope Obama will help make things a bit different to what they are now...

Dear Nadia,
There is some confusion with so many students registered..
The list needn't be in alphabetical order, we'll put it order, but it should be complete.
Thanks,
Antonella

Dear Nadehza,
1. to cancel the long text in Russian, you just have to click on the cross that appears on the top right-hand corner of the comment...
But the Poles should know Russian.. it might be interesting for them..
2. Alongwith another colleague at my school who is also doing some etwinning projects, I have decided to make this activity compulsory for all the students of the class, and to evaluate their work and contribution to the site.
Bye for now,
Antonella

1. There are a lot, not too many... Anyway, it is up to you to make a choice and select only the most interested ones, or not..We have chosen the second solution... Remember the list, after you have made the decision.
2. I say that the Poles might understand it, because I remember my friend Adam telling me he knows Russian.. and people of his generation and older had to study it a school.. you know.. I do not know about his younger students, who were born after the collapse of the Soviet Union.... What is it about?? I am curious to know, now..
Thanks

Dear Nadehza,
our first skype conversation with the Polish students went quite well , and both my students and Adam's were very pleased with the experience, which we are going to repeat some time in January.
My Students've asked me to do the same with the "Russians"!! If you agree with the proposal, you should have your students (22 of them, so we could have a match for everybody) register to skype, and send me the list of their skype addresses..
See what you can do...
Bye for now and MANY THANKS,
Antonella

You register, get a skype name and call each other using this name
the students talked one to one
We saw Adam on a webcam and he talked to the group together at the end of the session.
I am going to check with my boyfriend later today if skype works between iTALY AND Russia, too, free of charge

Dear Antonella and Nadezda,
I think we should make decisions concerning our next steps. I`d like you to read my proposals and comment on them. Which ones do you find interesting?
1. Every school chooses one song in a native language. Next students translate the lyrics and send them to the other partners. Songs should deal with some more serious problems such as tolerance, peace, etc. I think we can`t prompt our students but we can give them some exampls ( for instance "Imagine" ). We could later conduct discussions based on these songs on our forum.
2. Every school prepares a webquest concerning values which were important in the history of our countries and the ones which were shown in literature. We can ask the teachers of mother tongue and history to help us.
3. Every school translates into English a poem or two ( or finds it in English on the Internet) and sends it to the other partners. Later we set up a disscussion on our forum.
4. I have thought of making a kind of a dictionary containing names of values which are important for our students( in four languages:English, Italian, Russian and Polish). This could be a kind of bridge linking our students, schools and countries. Antonella, is it possible to be done on our web page?
5. Do you think our students could find pictures of pieces of art which represent some important values? ( For instance Delacroix`s Liberty)
Do you have any other proposals? What do you think of mine?
Best wishes for the New Year,
Adam

Dear Nadehza,
I think that Adam's ideas are very interesting.
I like the one about the multilingual dictionary very much and I am going to ask my colleagues Antonella and Francesco if we can put it on our main page.
In the meantime, I wish you and all of your family a peaceful and happy 20O9.
Yours
Antonella
