My grandmother: 'In my free time I met my friend and I helped my parents with work in our farm. I often cycled and read papers for teenagers. In the village, which I have lived in, there was, about once per month, a travelling cinema which I liked going to.'

2. What was important for you then?
My grandmother: 'For me the most important things were my family and education.'

My grandmother: 'When I was a teenager I listened to Polish pop music and interesting radio programmes.'

4. Did you argue with your parents? If so, what about?
My mother: 'I argued only with my mother, usually about money. I also wanted to stay out longer.'

My grandmother: 'I wanted to go to university and have a happy life.

6. Who did you talk to about your problems?
My father: 'I didn't talk about my problems with anybody because I didn't have anyone with whom I could talk about it.'

7. What did school look like when you were a teenager?
My grandmother said, she had gone to a small school, in which there had been only 4 classrooms. She said that all lessons had started at 8 am and had ended at about 2-3 pm. She added that in primary school you had learnt for 7 years and in high school for 4 years.

8.What did relationships between teachers and students look like?
My grandmother: 'I had always good relationships with my teachers. Generally, teachers were more respected than today. In school there was more discipline.

9. At what age did you have your first girlfriend/boyfriend?
My grandmother: 'I was about 16 years old.'
My mother: 'I was about 16 or 17.'
My father: 'At the age of 19.'

10. How much free time did you have when you were a teenager?

My mother: 'I had lots of free time. Except for the time when I was at school I had free time.'

11. What did your ordinary day look like?
My grandmother: 'In the morning I was at school, in the afternoon I helped my parents at home, I made myself ready for school and then I had free time.'

12. What did you think about religion?
My mother: 'Religion didn't play an important role in my life.
My grandmother:'Religion was very important for me because I come from a religious family.

13. Was there more or less aggression amoung young people?
My father: 'There was much less aggression among young people, any time you could go out and feel safe.
My grandmother: 'There was significantly less aggression among young people. The relationships between teenagers were much better than today.'
This interview is with Anna Reszut- she is an inhabitant of Baranów Sandomierski, she is 72 years old.

1. How did your ordinary day look like?
"I used to go to school until I was 14 years old. Every day I had to wake up early and together with other children we had to go a few kilometers to our school. After lessons I had to help my parents.
When a was 14 years old I began to work. I weeded the ground around the railway track.”

2. What did relationships between teachers and students look like?
How did school look like when you were a teenager?
“When I started to go to school in the first class there were about 60 children. Our teacher was very strict, he often punished us, for example he had a stick and he could beat children on their back. Everyone was afraid of him.
During the first years we didn’t have any books, we had only small boards. Later we got ABC-books.”

3. Did you argue with your parents? If so, what about?
“No, I’ve never argued with my parents. When I was a teenager my mother and father were like holiness”

4. Who did you talk to about your problems?
“I could talk about my problems to my parents and with my best friend. We have been keeping touch till today”

5. At what age did you have your first girlfriend/boyfriend?
“I never had only one boyfriend, I always had many boyfriends who visited me. I got married when I was 19. My husband was 10 years older than me, it wasn’t marriage for love.”

6. What were your dreams when you were a teenager?
Mrs. Rzeszut told me that she hadn’t dreamed about anything special, she had only wanted more money for her family.
